Zechariah and Elizabeth
Zechariah loved God. He worked in God's temple
His wife Elizabeth also loved God
Zechariah and Elizabeth were very old and had no children
One day the angel Gabriel came to the temple
He wanted to speak to Zechariah
The angel said great news you and Elizabeth will have a baby
You will call the baby John
God's Holy Spirit will fill him and
he will grow up to be a special man
Zechariah said how can I believe you?
The angel Gabriel said you will not be able
to talk to anyone until the baby is born
If that happens,
then you will know I told you the truth
Zechariah could not speak when he came out of the temple
he could only move his hands to show what he was trying to say and
Then the baby was born to Zechariah and Elizabeth
People wanted the baby to be named Zechariah like his father,
but Zechariah said no he remembered
what the angel Gabriel had said to him
Zechariah wrote down the name John for the baby
and as soon as he did this he could talk again
Zechariah gave thanks to God
