In 1969, I was making an album called
Who Knows Where the Time Goes.
There was a group called Fairport Convention
singing in those days, still singing,
singing beautifully.
But in those days, there was a singer named Sandy Denny
who was a member of that group
with a voice like gold and silver
and a great, great sense of songwriting.
I remember hearing this song.
I was, I think it's at the Chateau Marmont,
it must have been.
And my producer put it on the tape machine
and played it, said,
this is a song.
This is a song I think you ought to sing.
Oh, yes.
Here's to Sandy, wherever you are.
Here's to Sandy, wherever you are.
Across the morning sky
Across the morning sky
Across the morning sky
All the birds are leaving
Ah, how can they know
It's time for them to go
Before the winter falls
Before the winter falls
Before the winter falls
I will still be dreaming
I do not count the time
Who knows where the time goes
Who knows where the time goes
Who knows where the time goes
Who knows where the time goes
Sad deserted shore
Sad deserted shore
Your fickle friends are leaving
Ah, but then you know
It's time for them to go
But I will still be here
I have no sign of leaving
I do not count the time
Who knows where the time goes
Who knows where the time
Goes
Who knows where the time
Goes
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
Who knows
¶¶
¶ Where the time goes
¶ Who knows where the time goes
¶¶
¶ And I am not alone
¶¶
¶ While my love is near me
¶ And I know it will be so
¶ Till it's time to go
¶¶
¶ So come the storm
¶ Comes the winter
¶ And then the birds in spring again
¶¶
¶ I do not count the time
¶¶
¶ Who knows how my love grows
¶ Who knows where the time goes
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶
¶¶

You're a wonderful audience. Thank you.
God bless you all.
