There was a young man one day away from home
He received a letter that said, hurry on home
Packed his clothes and started on home
And when he got to the station, he heard the church bell tone
And went on to his father's house
Found his father laying on the cooling bowl
Touched his father's body
His body was turning cold
And a few days later, they rolled his father into the wagon
And the man was talking to a young man one day
And this is what he said
He said, I could hear
Yeah, wagon
Oh Lord, oh Lord
Rolling along
Rolling along
Sometimes we wonder
Rolling along
Rolling along
While we cry sometimes
Rolling along
He said his father was cold
Rolling along
His father rolled to the church that day
Rolling along
The preacher said the God is beginning
Rolling along
The Lord is here
Rolling along
Oh, the way he did
Rolling along
Rolling along
He shall live again
Rolling along
He went on down to the graveyard
Rolling along
Boy, it's hard to be so brave
Rolling along
Trying to keep from crying
Rolling along
Trying to be so brave
Rolling along
He said, I can't wait to see you again
Rolling along
Rolling along
I hate to leave my father
Rolling along
Rolling along
He cried all night
Rolling along
Rolling along
Rolling along
The Lord is my shepherd
Rolling along
Oh, the way he did the work
