It reminds me of sitting with Gadget, Studio 306, 3-4 o'clock in the morning, getting the mix right.
And Innovations Remix, you know, we wanted to have another version for the Underground Tapes release.
The original was amazing. Again, shout out to 2Root.
We just kind of wanted to revamp it a little bit, just to give it some new freshness.
And, you know, lights low. It just fit perfect.
It felt, the music felt sexy. It was just really cool.
And the reason why I say sexy is as funny as it translated throughout.
Because I relate it to when I was...
I was courting, if you say, my lady who is now my wife and the mother of my son, Alana.
And when the album dropped, I think we might have been taking some time apart at the time.
But when the album dropped, she had called me and mentioned that she went to the nearest HM.
In the west side of Toronto and bought every copy off the shelf.
I said bullshit.
But then it was funny when I went to go see her a few days later.
On the shelf where her TV sat was about 30 or 40 copies of the Underground Tapes CD.
One opened and on display.
Which was in the deck and the CD tray and the others in a pile.
And it was mentioned, she mentioned to me that that's the song.
This is the song that her and her girls would play every night while getting ready to go out and party.
And as much as I may have wanted to be humble and say, nah, whatever.
On the inside, she really, really helped me.
To feel that this was working.
That this music was really, really working.
And a lot of my references go back to a time when I'm saying I needed inspiration.
I needed motivation to keep going.
And without her, a lot of what I've done today would not even be here.
So shout outs to you, Alana, my love.
And this one's for you.
