The ringer's retired,
he's living the dream
Busier now than he's ever been
Bought 25 acres for his horse and his dog
Gave up tobacco
and got off the grog
The ringer's retired,
he's calling it quits While his body still has enough working bits
For him and his missus
to still get around
Say a bit of the country before winding down
And he reckons his best years are still up ahead
So before the sun rises he's out of his bed
With 96 years in his rear view
There's so little time and there's so much to do
The ringer's retired,
but he's not done yet
Writing his memoirs so he doesn't forget
All the people and places that made the days sweet
Before his way of living became obsolete
A hard life's a good life, he says with a grin
If I had my time over, I'd do it again
Because work doesn't hurt you,
it's worry does you in
So I'm working on my birthday card from the king
The
ringer's retired,
he's living the dream
Busier now than he's ever been
