In around 2010, I think it was 2010, maybe 2011, I released an album called Innocence. And as far as albums made by middle-aged guys go, it did well. And one of my favorite songs on Innocence was The Lonely Night. It was a song that I wrote with Mark Lanigan. But it was an obscure song.It was towards the end of the album. And as a result, very few people heard it.And it was one of my favorite, favorite songs that I'd ever released. And when I started working on Reprise, honestly, one of my first thoughts was I would love to include The Lonely Night. And to give it an orchestration that really reinforces the emotional quality of the song. And then I had this very odd, maybe even inspired idea, which was to reach out to Chris Christofferson.Because I knew Chris Christofferson a little bit.And I just...I love his voice.I mean, I love early Chris Christofferson, like Help Me Make It Through the Night, Sunday Morning Coming Down. But more recent Chris Christofferson, like that voice of experience. And so somehow, Chris and Mark did this duet. And those voices, you know, the depth, the gravelly depth of their voices, these voices of pain and experience. You know, people who've seen The Dark Night of the Soul. And I'm so thrilled. That I was able to sort of revisit this song that very few people know. And honestly, when I've been talking to people about the album, a lot of people have singled out The Lonely Night as being their favorite song on the record. So I hope you get the chance to listen to it.
