The Lion and the Mouse
Once a lion lay sleeping.
A mouse ran across his paw.
The lion woke up and roared and grabbed the mouse.
Please, lion, do not hurt me.
I am sorry I woke you,
but if you do not hurt me,
I promise I will do something good for you someday.
Arrgh! laughed the lion.
What could a tiny mouse do for a big,
strong lion?
But all the same, the lion let the mouse go.
One day the lion was walking through
the forest when suddenly some hunters
captured him with a net.
The lion
roared his loudest roar.
The trees shook,
but the net stayed as strong as ever.
Far away the mouse heard the roar.
He ran to the lion and
nibbled at the net.
He nibbled and nibbled until he made a big hole in the net.
The lion squeezed
through the hole and walked away with the mouse at his side.
