The Last Resort's my favorite song on the album.We used to cover I Got Mexico,and I always wanted a song like that for us that felt like that.We talked about that song when we were reworking it,because, yeah, I'd written this chorus, The Last Resort,and the melody was like this other songthat Shane and Josh had sent us years and years agothat happens from time to timewhere you internalize some of this you hear,and it's like, what does this sound like?Eventually it came to me that it sounded like that song.I think it feels great.We always are looking for an excuse to just go full Gulf and Westernand only play down on the Gulf in Florida and Alabamaand double down on that life.Try to be the next Jimmy Buffett.Our buddy Dean Dillon told us early on,one of our first ever trips out to Nashville as songwritersbefore we were signed artists,and he said, boys, write what you know.The second piece of advice that he gave us was make sure you love it.Make sure it is a part of you.Make sure it's something that you want to say a lot,because if you're lucky, you're going to spend the next 25 yearsnight in and night out singing these songs.
