so something y'all might not know about me is uh I'm very proud to be from
Alabama and to be from the South
I don't hide it very well and I think a lot of people in the world have a
misconception about what it means to be Southern and what it means to be proud
to be Southern and I wrote this song about that and I just I hope that people
take it the way I mean it and I hope they they realize that down here what we
value is shaking people's hand and looking them in the eye and saying yes sir
and yes ma'am and treating people with a certain level of respect so I wrote this
song to try to tell people that story it's called that's my Dixon
folks out there that'll judge a man by the color of his skin still a fight over
wrong and right no one ever wins I know somewhere there's hate out there
don't hold that against me who's that ain't my Dixie
who I am is to give a damn for the ones that came before me the broken part of
a Southern heart it's more than just old glory the state of mind is deep and wide
and strong like the Mississippi we sang amazing grace and cursed the heat yeah
that's my Dixie
now days you just can't believe what you see on the news round here we ain't just
black and white we're all red white and blue
we're turning these towns into battlegrounds and that don't sit well with me
who's that ain't my Dixie
who I am is to give a damn the ones that came before me it's a broken part of a
Southern heart it's more than just old glory
it's the state of mind is deep and wide and strong like the Mississippi we sang
amazing grace and cursed the heat yeah that's my Dixie
it's homemade pies and Georgia pies old bird dogs and Spanish moss
it's mama's tea that's way too sweet just come on in and have a seat
yeah that's my Dixie
who I am is to give a damn the ones that came before me it's a broken part of a
Southern heart it's more than just old glory it's the state of mind is deep and
wide and strong like the Mississippi we sang amazing grace and cursed that
Alabama heat
yeah that's my Dixie
thank y'all very much
