About two years ago, one of my good buddies
called me up, man, and he's
crying on the phone,
and he's one of those guys,
he's a man's man,
man.
And
he goes,
Rhonda just left, and I have no idea why.
She wouldn't tell me why.
So I,
you know,
as a good friend and buddy,
I was just kind of there for him and talking
to him and trying to help him figure it out.
And
he never got the answer at all.
She's just kind of one of those things where she was done.
And
so after talking with him, I
sat down and wrote this next song.
Maybe that bum on Broad and Fifth will somehow strike it rich.
And maybe the coffee on the corner will taste like wine.
Maybe this traffic
won't slow down.
Maybe these streets,
it won't make a sound.
And maybe the paper at my door will just bring good news.
And maybe today she's gonna miss me.
Maybe today
she's gonna need me.
Maybe today.
Maybe today I'm just kidding myself.
She's loving on someone else.
And maybe today I won't cross her mind.
But maybe today
she's gonna miss me.
Maybe today
she's gonna need me.
Someone like you,
and how you love,
how you speak.
Countless lovers under covers and the beat.
Know that I gave you somebody.
You know that I gave you somebody.
Offering the night while I live it up,
I'm all too asleep.
Waging wars to shake the poet and the beat.
I hope I'm gonna make you notice it.
I really hope I'm gonna make you notice it.
