Sight 9. Simon's WaterSimon's Water, although now portioned into two separate land titles, was an original 50-acre land grant granted to Simon Young, an early Pitcairn settler. When Simon returned to Pitcairn, due to homesickness, after only remaining five years on Norfolk Island, the property transferred into the hands of his daughter, Rosalind, and husband, Neil, a Presbyterian minister. They later sold it to the Buffett family, whereby it was divided into two current 25-acre lots. The land stayed in the Buffett family until 1965,when Robert Buffett, childless and without immediate family to leave it to,sold it to another family of Norfolk Islanders, the Christian Baileys. It now remains in its portioned piece of land, unsubdivided from the original grants.Although it is private, the owner feels any who wish to wander through the open landshould have the chance to do so.Take a stroll through the big oak trees, pine trees and pine trees on this waterfront property. It is a great place to take a picnic basket and relax for the afternoon.
