Site 7. Aunt Amy's.Known locally as Aunt Amy's, this was the old family home of George Frederick Howard Christian and his wife Dinah Amabel.Howard and Amy were from the first generation of Norfolk Islanders born on Ireland after the Pitcannis arrived in 1856.The house had an annex built onto the north side and was known as the Clothing Club, one of Norfolk's first general stores. Here in the early 1900s, Howard, Amy and other Islanders sold household goods, as well as imported goods from Sydney firms such as Grace Brothers.Over the years, the building has had other tenants including the cottage pottery and also a small hairdressing business.Although empty, the house has not been forgotten by its current owner, who has plans in the future to restore the house to its former glory.
