Site 11, Palm Glen. Palm Glen offers unparalleled views over the national parks and out to Phillip Island.It is one of the entrances into the national parks and has its own Palm Glen circuit track.This is a 910 metre easy walk through rainforests where you see marvellous tree ferns and dense stands of Norfolk palms.There is also the Palm Glen track which connects to the Red Road track and Mount Bates area.You may spot on this track a very old and large specimen of a tree endemic to Norfolk Island, the * Oak.In World War II there was a kiosk located at Palm Glen as Mount Bates was a hive of activity due to the radar station and Palm Glen was a primary access point.Palm Glen is now host to a number of strawberry guava bush, the fruit of which is used to make the local guava jelly.The bush is considered a weed on the island and the national parks have taken ground.The guava, or paw pear, is usually in season in the spring and autumn months.
