There's a man,
one man,
lives by the river and he catches fish with his hands,
bare hands.
Rips out the gills to look at the blood and
he tells the fish about his doubts and fears
but he's fishing blood finger and the fish are little ears.
There's a woman,
one woman,
lives by the sea and she catches fish with her hands,
bare hands.
The fish says,
white rolling water that pisses like a snake.
Redstone at night, no delight in what you take
and every ripple reflects his shattered face.
One man's heaven is another's fall from grace.
There was a night,
one night,
when the man woke up from a noisy dream with a scream that
sent the sea birds high in the new moon sky
and he looked at the river and doubt and fear
but he's fishing blood finger and he's aching ears.
That night,
same night,
the woman woke up from a noisy dream with a scream that sent the
sea birds high in the full moon sky and she looked at the sea
with doubt and fear still tonight cold sand and her aching ears.
The dream said,
there is a place where the river meets the sea.
The water glows a sunset red where you will meet with me.
White rolling water that pisses like a snake.
Redstone at night, no delight in what you take
and every ripple reflects his shattered face.
One man's heaven is another's fall from grace.
Today,
one day,
when the man walked along the riverside to the sea,
full tide,
there met the woman they cried and they told each other their
doubts and fears and swam the ocean up to their ears and the water
and the fish grew red and they made the ocean into their beds
and in their sheets I heard a cry.
I should have shouted but I don't know why.
I saw them all there but they didn't see me.
I missed my chance but still they say
there's plenty more fish in the sea.
There's a sea, one sea,
lives by the river and it catches men with its hands,
by hands,
fills up their lungs and throws them back onto sand,
dry sand,
and kill this fish,
drink the woman's tears and whisper soft and along their fears.
The fish says,
there is a sky above that takes your breath away.
Now you're safer here with us and this is where you stay.
White rolling water that hisses like a snake,
redstone at night, no delight in what you take
and every ripple reflects his shattered face.
One man's heaven is another's fall from grace.
