I'm here to help you relax by taking you through a slow and deep reflexology session. And just maybe my guiding you through a relaxing foot treatment will help you drift off to sleep. Just follow the sound of my voice and allow my words to conjure a physical response to the massage within your own body. As I take you through each isolated place of pressure placed on and around the foot, I would like you to take your attention to that point on your own feet, conjuring the sensation you would feel during a real reflexology session. The ancient Chinese practice of reflexology is a relaxing foot treatment, excellent for helping to balance the systems of the body by working through the zones of the foot that correspond to different parts of your body. Your foot has specific reflex points, which under stimulation can help the body to heal itself and support the well-being of the feet. Your feet are subject to many tons of pressure over the course of your life. They are a truly underappreciated part of your body. When was the last time you gave them a little love and pampering? Your feet deserve a massage all of their own. They've earned this. Sometimes we're on our feet all day long, while they spend all their time encased in restrictive shoes, being bent into unnatural shapes. It's really good to stretch your feet out to warm up the tissues and get your circulation going. It is said that this practice can alleviate blockages in the flow of your energy, and at the very least induce a state of deep relaxation. It has an amazing ability to reduce stress, to improve blood flow and energy levels, and thanks to its ability to improve the functioning of the nervous system, it helps sleep and can aid in overcoming insomnia. I'd like you to rest your bare foot on the stool, and I'm going to hold your foot with both my hands, simply allowing you to get comfortable with the newness of my touch. Sometimes it can take a minute to trust and relax, so I encourage you to close your eyes and allow your foot to melt into my hands. Let it go. I'm going to gently massage your foot, stroking my thumbs along the center from the sole and upwards towards the toes. I'm applying gentle pressure with the tips of my thumbs, pressing and then releasing repeatedly as I move my thumbs slowly towards your toes. This is sometimes called the finger walk or wiggle walk. I do this to even out any little bumps and areas of tension within your feet. I'm going to walk my thumbs over the entire area of the sole of your foot, applying pressure for a moment at a time and pressing any grittiness below the skin to ease congestion within your blood flow. I begin now at the heel and press along the outside blade of the foot, taking my time to cover every part. This shouldn't tickle, but may send tingling sensations through the whole of your foot, maybe even up your legs. You'll find yourself drifting into a deep state of relaxation. With the length of my thumbs, I press into your heels and firmly glide them over the arches of your feet towards your toes. At first, this may feel a little sensitive, but as I repeat the sweeping motion, it will become pleasurable. I then repeat this action with my knuckles, softly kneading the soles of your feet, bringing a whole new feeling to the area. Now I'm going to hold onto the tops of your feet at the ankles with my whole hand. Slowly I slide my hand smoothly over the foot to the tip of your toes, pressing down through the toes, compressing the soles and stretching out the tops of your feet. And I repeat this action five times. Now I'm going to take the flat heel of my hand to your five toes and press them firmly backwards altogether to stretch out your toes and the balls of your feet. You may feel a stretch through the arches as well. I press and then release, press and release. Now I'm pressing my thumb into the center of your foot, just below your middle toe. This point corresponds to the solar plexus, the space between your ribs, which is sometimes associated with levels of confidence. Focus on where my thumb is pressing and take a deep breath into this point on your foot. Now I wiggle walk my thumbs from the base of your big toe, gradually moving along your foot to the second toe, through to the third toe, the fourth toe, and finally pressing into the base of your little toe. I squeeze and release. Taking your toes, I'm moving them gently around in small circles to help balance and relax the lymphatic system. If there's a crunch or a crack, that's okay. I now repeat the same action, holding the whole of your foot and gently rotating at the heel, first clockwise and then anticlockwise. Now I return to move the heel of my hand up and down both the top and the sole of your foot. The heart is said to be at the center of your foot, so I'll gently press there with my thumb before gliding across to the inside section, just before the ball of your foot. This pressing action helps to calm the nervous system and prepares your body for a deep, relaxing sleep, a deep, relaxing sleep, a deep, relaxing sleep.
