Hey Eddie,
can you loan me a few bucks?
Tonight can you get us a ride?
Gotta make it through the tunnel
Gotta meet with the man on the other side And Eddie,
this guy,
he's the real thing
So if you wanna come along You gotta
promise you won't say anything
Cause this guy don't dance The word's been passed,
this is our last chance
We gotta stay cool tonight,
Eddie Cause man,
we got ourselves out on that line
And if we blow this one
They ain't gonna be looking for just me this time
And all we gotta do is hold up our
hand Here,
stuff this in your pocket
It'll look like you're carrying a friend And remember,
just don't smile
Change your shirt,
cause tonight we got style
Jerry says he's gonna walk
Cause he found out I took his radio and I
hogged it But Eddie, man, he don't understand
That two grand's practically sitting here in my pocket
And tonight's gonna be everything that I said
So throw that money on the bed You'll
see this time I wasn't just talking
And I'm gonna go out walking
Oh,
thank you, you are wonderful.
You've been wonderful.
Right back at ya, you know.
Well,
the reason I wanted to do this show is because story time
has become a really big thing around my house lately.
And what I really love about it is,
you know,
I was very lucky because the first person
to tell me my stories was my daddy.
And there's something so right about that chain of being
able to tell my son the stories that my father told me.
My daddy was the most hopeful person I ever knew.
He was a great believer in faith and redemption and second chances.
He had a real flamboyant turn of phrase, too.
And he would say it and you'd laugh and then
you'd walk away and you'd think about it and go,
oh.
At the lowest point in my life, he said to me,
As long as you got an angel on your
shoulder and a dream in your pocket,
you're gonna be okay.
So with that in mind,
this is for you, daddy.
