The lady of the
night is sleeping
With clouds for pillows by her head
Her jet black hair is creeping
Down the dusky road of evening to her bed
Where a child
lies in slumber
His head full of
innocent dreams
Of the world and all its wonders But
he's young yet and that is how it seems
He will wake in the morning sunshine
The lady has now wakened and is day
She will smile and maybe sometime
Throw a kiss to the child on her way
Greet the birds and the trees,
her children
As they flutter their good mornings in the breeze
She'll reach and gently touch them And they'll
spread their wings and branches to the seas
She keeps the world full of laughter
And begs the wind and rain to stay away
She loves the things around her She's the goddess of love,
people say
When you lie in your bed in the evening
Though she's sleeping and appears not to see
With the
stars in the sky
as her servants
They will watch and make sure you will be
Safe
till the skies reopen
Till she smiles through the misty morning
light and gaiety to you
