High Lonesome is the first song that myself
and Terry McBride wrote with Billy Burnett,
who was a super cool guy.
I'd never sort of seen him,
but knew that he had played with Fleetwood Mac.
And we went to his place and he had this big rockabilly hair going.
He was just a cool guy and he had this great idea for High Lonesome.
We got cracking on the idea and had it finished in two days.
The first scene is,
you know,
I saw this boy and girl tonight,
reminded me of you and I in better days.
So that's kind of where it all started.
And it's just a reflection of,
you know,
I probably messed things up.
It was really good.
When you try writing with new writers,
you know,
it's just kind of a hit and miss kind
of thing.
But Billy was really cool.
And I'm real proud that High Lonesome is my first single.
