Buddhism speaks a lot about disturbing emotions, and these are defined as a state of mind or
heart, however you want to look at it, that when we develop them, causes us to lose our
peace of mind, and they incapacitate us so that we lose self-control.
And so when we're feeling, let's say, attachment, or anger, or jealousy, you certainly don't
have peace of mind, do we?
And also we lose self-control in the sense that all sorts of really crazy urges come
up in our mind to say something and act in a certain way that usually we regret very
much later on.
