Oh I love to hear you sing. I gotta tell you a story. This is one of those RuthMoore stories that are out there in the little green book called Cold as a Dogin the Wind in the Northeast. They're ballads, which she calls ballads. You're notsupposed to sing them, you're supposed to say them. It's sort of the old traditionof reciting things that was out all through the islands. I'm prettysure it was all over Maine, probably all over this area too a long time ago. Youknew a poem or a story. Sometimes the stories had come down word for word. Soshe wrote all these down. She's from Gotts Island originally, now lives onMount Desert Island. She's a novelist and an excellent one too. This is a foolishone. This is called The Ballad of Long Gone Jones.
