I'm not somebody that sits there and goes, it's bad. It can be whatever it's been. I can go to any era, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and I can play you just as many crappy records as there were great records. That's what goes on. And you've got to have some records that aren't great to give the ones that are really special the reason to go sit above the rest. And that's the way it's supposed to be. So I'm not one of those guys that it's only good if it's this or that. I don't subscribe to that. I'm happy for these guys. They're living their dreams. They're playing. They're doing what speaks to them. And it's OK if it ain't my cup of tea. I probably wasn't a lot of people's cup of tea, either, in a few generations before me. So that's not so much of an issue. At the end of the day, what I love seeing is country music represented in a way that makes it look great. That's all I ever wanted to see was somebody be great. If you're going to take my spot, OK, I had a nice little run, had a bunch of hits, and then dah, dah, dah. But if you're going to take my spot, you better be better than me. You better be great. You know, that's the way it should work. But it doesn't, and that's OK, too.
