Man, I hope he called her number and got back in touch with her. That's the title track off
Brett Young's brand new album, which is available now. It's called Ticket to LA. And we are talking
to Brett about this album. He had a hand in writing many of the songs on the album, including
this next one, which you've probably heard because it's his first single off of Ticket to LA. It's
called Here Tonight. It's one that Brett wrote with Ben Kaver, Justin Ebach, and Charles Kelly
from Lady Antebellum. So interestingly enough, you actually wrote this song when you weren't in
such a good place. But you told me that this song actually reminds you of one of the happiest times
in your life. So I think we did. We wrote Here Tonight intentionally vague, kind of the same
way that In Case You Didn't Know was written. You don't want to get so caught up in details that you
tell such a specific story that people can't make it their story. And what's nice about that is with
Here Tonight, it's about those moments in life that you wish never had to end. So at any stage
in your life, that could be about any given moment. You know, for me, when we wrote Here
Tonight, I wasn't engaged yet. And so at the time, and I couldn't even tell you what it was,
but it definitely applied to something else, obviously. Maybe in writing that song, we were
all drawn from a handful of those moments. Now, listening to that song, now that it's the single
and it's out and it's at radio, when I hear it, it makes me actually go to the night that I proposed.
I remember I proposed, she said yes. And then the first thing we did, because we were excited,
was we started FaceTiming friends and family. But I remember in the middle of that process,
of FaceTiming, we kind of had this realization that like, we're not really being present in the
moment right now. We just got engaged and now we're taking it to the streets. We need to put
the phone down and we need to be in this moment together. And so we did that. And that moment
when we decided to like, actually be in the moment, from that moment on, it was one of the
best moments, I think, in my life. And so Here Tonight and being in the moment, that makes me
think of the night that she said yes.
Aw, I love that. And I think we've all got those moments in our life that we just wish would last
forever.
