When I was seven years old,
thought I was doing all right.
But it's just I didn't grow,
darkness took out the light.
My self-esteem was low,
I had to learn and fight.
And all the lies that I told,
things weren't all that good and bright.
My life has been,
still now,
just heartaches and pain.
And I know,
I learned the hard way.
And so the story goes on,
I found the comfort in drugs.
And all of a sudden I opened,
all those drugs inside.
And I was trapped in jail,
started calling my home.
And the good stuff I built.
My life has been,
still now,
just heartaches and pain.
And I know,
I learned the hard way.
I learned to walk alone.
And when I was 21,
she brought me to my firstborn.
That's not the end of the story,
we had to move on.
My life has been,
still now,
just heartaches and pain.
And I know, I learned the hard way.
And as I grow,
I learned the hard way.
I turned around,
I walked away from it all.
And I know, I made it.
There's one more thing,
you saved my life.
The love you bring will end my strife.
I owe you all that I'm alive.
I'm standing tall
because of your fire.
