Hate Me is ultimately a song about wanting to be remembered.I think that's all people want is to feel seen and heard and feel important. And I feel like there's nothing worse than when you get out of a relationshipand that person moves on in like a week or like two weeks and you're just like, wait, did you not feel anything for me? Was it not real?Almost like the desperation that that makes you feel for that person toat least feel something for you. That's the main feeling behind Hate Me.I feel like there is a juxtaposition between the confidence and the insecurity in this song. You know, this person's like confident enough to be like, well, if you don't love me,I hope that you hate me. You have to have some sort of confidence to say that. But at the same time, they're like, would you fight somebody for me in a bar?So I just think it's about being in that space where you don't want them to feel nothing for youbecause feeling nothing means that they feel nothing for you.And so, yeah, the opposite of love is not hate. It's indifference.
