In the film of Frozen, we see Elsa go up the mountain. She sings, let it go. And by the time Anna gets to the ice palace, it hasn't been that long. And we're still right there with Elsa. We're still on her side. We're on both of their sides. But on Broadway, we realized, well, actually, when we were in Denver trying out this musical, we realized that we started the whole show up in Act 2. We did Hooga. And then Elsa came out. And it had been quite a while. We had sort of taken a break from the show during intermission. And it was a little bit like, what's Elsa's problem again? Why do we care? So we wanted to give her something to sing that reminded you of her isolation and what had driven her up to the ice palace in the first place and why we care about Elsa. And that's why we have this little mini reprise of Let It Go, which is actually from the Demi Lovato version of the song. What's emotional about this is that one sister has chased the other sister all the way up the mountain. And she figures, I know everything now. So I can help you. But there's still so much damage that's been done that she kind of gets pushed away again, like so many of us who have relationships where we just can't figure out, how do we get past whatever this barrier is? And I think that's what is so emotional about this is that it's two sisters who want to be together and have made some progress. Elsa has found her own power and who she is and is feeling happy in that, but still doesn't feel safe to get close to anybody. And her sister still has maybe a little bit of a clumsy way of giving news. So when she gives the news that Arendelle's in deep, deep, deep, deep snow, she has no idea what she's actually doing to her very fragile sister at that moment, where her fragile sister, suddenly her stomach drops because she thought everybody was safe and it was fine and that she could just live up here and it'd be fine. But now she knows that she's left huge damage behind. And on top of it, she lets it get her so upset that she hurts her sister again. So we've had this moment of triumph. And then her past has come and caught up with her and sent her into an even darker tunnel. And we'll hear from that later in the show. Relationships are hard.
