During football season, you know, I watch a lot of football. Announcers on football games, Kurt Gowdy in particular, always has some interesting anecdote to tell you about the players, which he hopes will keep your interest up. You know, he'll say, hey Al, that tackle was by Jack Pardee. Now there's a story for you, Al. For you sports fans out there who didn't know it, Jack Pardee died two years in a car accident. But he loved this game too much to quit. He's out there, a fixture in the Washington Redskins defense. Gives lousy interviews though, doesn't he, Al? And during the season, they let, they have the coach shows, which happen during the week. They let a coach analyze last week's game. He's got his own show. What they're trying to do is they're trying to make, you know, give the coaches a little more personality, make them seem human, you know, and they kind of come on. My name's Salt Peters. I'm the coach of Alabama Tech and I'd like to welcome you all out there to Let's Cheese with the Coach. As you know, Alabama Tech beat KKK University 75 to nothing on the run of our halfback, J.O. Timpson. This victory brought our record for the season to 10 and 0. And I know a lot of you out there are interested in the fact that how can we be 10 and 0 this year when we were only 1 and 9 last year? Well, it's not hard. It's not hard to understand. You see, after last season, the coaching staff and myself, we looked at the films and we came to the conclusion that we were just a little bit too light in certain positions to compete with the major college teams. Well, we're not too light this year. In fact, we're the darkest team in the league. We got a black tie-in, a black receiver, a black split-in. In fact, I'm the only white guy with the team. And in fact, we have our great black halfback, J.O. Timpson, who you all are going to meet right now. Say, J.O., J.O., shuffle on over here for a minute, J.O. How you doing there, J.O.? Oh, I'm all right, coach. Boy, you sure do have a lot of moves. Where'd you get them? I'm watching Soul Train, coach. Oh, doggie, those are some moves you got there, J.O. You know, J.O., you had quite a game last Saturday. For you people that didn't know, J.O. rushed for 480 yards last Saturday on only two carries. It's unbelievable. I don't think I'll ever see anything like that again. Now, J.O., before you go on back over there and listen to a couple albums, I don't know what you're going to do, I'd just like to say that you have more speed, more moves, and more power than any halfback I've ever known. But if I ever catch you with a white girl, you won't play another minute for us. Now we're going to talk to Donnie Woods. Donnie didn't play at all for us this season. He's a red shirt. In fact, now, a red shirt is a guy who just can't fit into our plans. And Donnie, who was a high school great, you know, like a lot of red shirts would have a bad attitude towards the coaching staff since they couldn't play. But Donnie, not him. He's for the team. We're going to talk to Donnie now. Say, Donnie, Donnie, come on over here for a minute. Woo. Folks, Donnie doesn't feel like talking to us right now. And that gesture he made with his finger was just his way of saying, we're number one. I'm going to show highlights of the films. Bobby, are you ready? You about ready, Bobby? All right. Number 82 is our tie-in Marquis Desai Johnson. And I want you to see the most devastating block that I have ever seen. Marquis is going to make this block right now on their defensive back, the late Winston Monroe. And Winston was killed on that play. Consequently, we got a 15-yard penalty. Stopped the drive. I know their coach is upset at Winston's death, especially since he had two years eligibility.
