Festival days, vulgarly called holy days, have no warrant in the word of God and arenot to be continued.For preventing disorders arising in several places within this jurisdiction, with thegreat disorder of God and offence of others, it is therefore ordered by this court andthe authority thereof, that whosoever shall be found observing any such day as Christmas,either by forbearing of labour, feasting, or any other way, upon such accountants asaforesaid, every person so offending shall pay of every such offence five shillings asa fine to the counting.Amen.
