You were always drawing, because I was painting all the time and doing commission work for
people.
You would come in and you would sit down next to me and draw all the time, and there was
always music playing all the time, we always had music playing.
A lot of times we would sing while I was working and people would come in and see you working.
I was painting on ceramic tile and they would give you some tiles and you would paint them
and I would fire them and keep them and would show them to you later.
And you would keep reams and reams of paper of these drawings.
You didn't sing much then, I think it was later on as you got older that you found your
voice.
I couldn't help but think the first time I heard you rap, because rap music hadn't come
into it's own really at that point, it was still pretty much fringe music and I was proud
of that.
And I was wondering what your music was going to evolve into.
You know, I think the one thing out of all that time is you found your voice, you found
your voice in your music and you were able to express a lot that a lot of kids don't
get to express.
And I wonder today if that's what other kids hear in your music, you know, how you turned
things around for yourself.
Because it was certainly nothing I don't think your mom or I had to do with, it was God working
in your life.
