earlier he was talking about the fact that, you know, it's just easier to write the ballads and
it comes from a place within his heart. So this song is very unique in that it's not actually
about a relationship, but also it's a special song because it features one of Brett's musical heroes.

Chapters is a lot of things to me. It's the first time that I've written a song that isn't about a
girl. It's the first time that I've told my life story straight down the middle. It's also the
first time that I've gotten to write with my idol, Gavin DeGraw, and have him featured on one of my
records. So it's something that I'm very proud of. It's just a happy coincidence that the way that
we wrote the third chapter, which is music, applies to both of us. And it was very fitting
to have him sing on.
