We are celebrating the release of Brett Young's sophomore album, Ticket to L.A.
And you know, one of the things, Brett, that I've heard you say before is that you kind of have
sort of a California soul country. And I wonder, you know, are we still going to hear that soulful
side of you on this new album? I don't know that that's something that leaves you. As more doors
open to write with more people, you're going to, depending on what room you're in and what writer
you're with, it's going to swing one way or the other. I'm sure you're hearing a lot more pop on
this record if you've heard it. That reflects A, where I'm at in my life, and B, some of the
people that I've gotten in rooms with. But the second somebody says, what's your favorite song
that you didn't write to sing? I'm probably going to go pull out an old R&B or soul. So yeah, I don't
think that's anything that will ever leave. And that's always going to be a big part of my heart
as an artist. I would say that this next song is a perfect example of the soul that lives inside of
you. And there's an interesting story about this song, because you actually had written a song that
kind of touched on a similar feeling and vibe. But you decided that your song wasn't better than
this one written by Ross Kopperman.

Change Your Name is another one of the outside songs on the record. And I've said this from the
beginning, the best song wins, has to win. I had a version of Change Your Name already holding that
place for record number two that I wrote. And I liked it. I knew that we needed kind of, in case
you didn't know, for the second record. And so I had written a song that I thought would be the one
and then I heard Change Your Name and it was just better than mine. And so it is our wedding song
for album number two. And I'm so happy that I found it.
For anybody else, because it's a special song.
Like I said, this song definitely shows off your soulful side. And I have a feeling there is going
