Murray cod is a mighty fish,
big as a man and water fresh.
Find me one that'll fill our dish here in the new millennium.
I have a rich and he dance and sing,
catch a cod,
cook up him,
eat, sleep and jump back into the Murray River.
All the trees and all the mess needed cleaning up,
I guess.
Nature was untidy mess for the axe-wielding white man.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees go down,
rivers slow,
waters brown,
all around the border towns.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees go down,
looks like the desert bound,
all around the border towns.
Chopped them down,
chopped them up,
milled the good bits,
burned it off,
poured the whiskey
in a cup when the job was over.
Took a century to get wise,
with no trees,
salt will rise,
vegetation won't survive,
not a thing can grow there.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees go down,
rivers slow,
waters brown,
all around the border towns.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees go down,
looks like the desert bound,
all around the border towns.
Drinking water's what we need,
so we'll not grow food to feed the gorgeous children that
we breed if the Murrays die in.
A drop of water gone to waste is a drop of life that's
being erased,
bitter that you get to taste fresh clear water.
So plant the trees, make
them grow, make the changes, let it flow.
Heal the Murray,
don't you know you can make a difference.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees go down,
looks like we're desert
bound, all around the border towns.
All around the border town,
so comes up and the trees
go down,
rivers slow,
waters brown,
all around the border towns.
All around the border town,
So it comes up and the trees go down,
Looks like the desert bound,
All around the border towns.
