Hi, this is Lottie from Calm Collective and we're going to practice kindness today to hopefully make ourselves feel good and to have a think about our friends, family and the rest of the world too. If just one person passes kindness on to someone else and then they do the same, it can make a real difference to people's lives and how happy they feel. You can do this exercise laying down or sitting up straight in a chair or on the floor with your back against a wall. Make yourself comfortable. You might find this easier if you close your eyes. To begin with, I'd like you to imagine something that makes you feel really happy. This can be a favourite toy or activity or it could be a favourite place you like to go to or a person who you love and like to spend time with. Transport yourself to this happy place now in your mind and think of how good it makes you feel. Is it calming or exciting or perhaps just lovely or really comforting? Enjoy the sensation for a moment and notice how your body relaxes and maybe your mind does too. Now imagine you can share that feeling with someone else and make them feel good too. So think of someone in your family and what their favourite thing might be. Once you've thought of it, imagine you're able to give them that thing, whether it's a gift or a moment that you know they'll really enjoy. In your mind, notice how they look when you share this special thing with them. Are they surprised? Happy? Maybe they're beaming a great big smile and looking right at you to say thank you. So you're shining a light onto them as you both share the warm feeling of the sun together. Now I'd like you to imagine passing this kindness onto a friend. Which friend do you think could use a bit of extra kindness today? Perhaps it's someone who's had a hard time lately. Imagine you can help them by giving them something they love and now think of their face when they experience it. How does their happiness look to you? Are they jumping for joy or crying tears of happiness or laughter? How does it feel to see this person look so happy? Now I'd like you to imagine that you can share this happiness out with even more people. I wish your whole class at school can have something they really long for that brings them joy. Imagine all of their faces lighting up when you give it to them. Now let's extend that to your whole year group and then the whole school. Just imagine the excitement if everyone in your school could have that one thing that makes them happy. The playground might look quite different if everyone had that one thing they needed. How do you feel helping everyone in this way today? Now let's share this kindness even further to your whole village or town that you live in or perhaps your whole city. Now let's stretch that kindness out even further and pass it onto your whole country. And now everyone's passing it on and it just grows and grows out to the whole world. Every single person in this entire planet is feeling happy from this one act of kindness. Everyone you've ever met is smiling and perhaps even dancing, throwing their heads back with laughter and joy. How do you feel seeing this? Is it excited? Peaceful? Are you happy that you've shared how kind you can be to yourself with everyone else? How different does today look for you now? Enjoy this feeling and let the corners of your mouth lift into a smile as you open your eyes.
